Modern Hotel in Quaint, Mountainous Setting
Foothills flecked with evergreens undulate throughout the Columbia River Valley, arching and cresting beneath the snow-capped peaks of the Cascade Mountains. The crisp waters of the Columbia River wend through the quaint town of Wenatchee, which hosts the nine-story Coast Wenatchee Center Hotel. An earthy color palette, roaring fireplace, and rustic wood accents help the hotel blend into the tranquil, picturesque setting of the surrounding terrain.
In the Deluxe room, overnighters slip into the arms of Morpheus in two queen-size beds or one king-size bed. Complimentary WiFi affords guests all-you-can-surf Internet, and the 27-inch cable TV has a Nintendo hookup to keep digits nimble for thumb wars with the concierge. Beyond the windows, views of the Cascade Mountains or the Columbia River unfold. Come morning, vacationers can settle in for a complimentary breakfast entree off the Wenatchee Roaster & Alehouse‘s menu paired with coffee or juice. Lodgers also receive a $25 dining credit to sample the penthouse eatery’s dinner menu. The Wenatchee Roaster & Ale House regales lodgers with hand-rubbed, slow-roasted meats, more than 20 beers on tap, and panoramic views of the Columbia River and Wenatchee Valley.
Wenatchee: Historic Town amid Scenic Cascade Mountains
On the sunny side of the eastern foothills, vineyards and orchards sprout up from the fertile soil, setting the groundwork for more than 15 Columbia Valley wineries. Depending on the package, wine enthusiasts can drive to 8 or 12 of the region’s wineries, such as the Snowdrift Cider Company, whose sommeliers craft cider blends using Wenatchee’s renowned cider apples. Visitors can swish around and sip the vinejuice at each location with all tasting fees waived. Groupon holders also receive a wine tote and two commemorative glasses.
A 45-minute drive north puts visitors smack dab in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, a 4-million-acre swath of woods that stretches north to the Canadian border and south to Mount Rainier. More than 1,285 miles of scenic trails rest at the disposal of adventurers—cyclists can skirt in and out of the forest on low-elevation paths, and hikers can practice tooting mountain-goat bugles as they explore the scenic countryside. The glacier-fed Lake Wenatchee presents grassy banks and mountain views, setting the stage for swimming or picnicking.
Ohme Gardens—about 4 miles from the hotel—sends sojourners on a stroll through nearly a mile of natural stone pathways, past hillside gardens, trickling waterfalls. Statuesque cedars and firs frame the Columbia River Valley below.
